Queen Elizabeth II: 1926-2022 – Local updates – Meeting of the 14th September Postponed

The meeting, originally planned for the 14th September 2022, will be postponed due to the Notice Period for the announcement of the Parish Council Meeting being altered, a new date will be announced shortly.

“Charles III, The Queen’s eldest son, is now the King of the United Kingdom and has addressed the nation. The National Accession Proclamation will take place at 10am on Saturday 10 September at St. James’s Palace.

Following this, a local proclamation ceremony conducted by the High Sheriff of Dorset, Sibyl King in the presence of the Lord-Lieutenant, Angus Campbell, will take place at 1pm on Sunday 11 September on the front steps outside County Hall, Dorchester. Members of the public are welcome to attend. You can arrive from 12:45pm to gather in front of the steps.

Following the announcement yesterday of the death of Her Majesty The Queen, an online book of condolence is available on the Buckingham Palace website. Books of condolence are also available during opening hours at County Hall, Dorchester and in all Dorset libraries.

We invite people to leave flowers at the Memorial Corner to the front of County Hall, Dorchester. They will remain in place until 5pm on the day after the funeral of Her Majesty. In the event of continued inclement weather, they may be removed earlier. We ask that any flowers are unwrapped, and no non-compostable items are used.”
